Celebrating St. David’s Day at Penrhos Park

This Sunday, March 1st, the Welsh flags will be flying high across Ceredigion as we celebrate Dydd Gŵyl Dewi (St. David’s Day). At Penrhos Park, being a Welsh holiday destination isn’t just part of us - it’s the heartbeat of everything we do. If you’re staying with us this week, you’ll notice the first of the Welsh daffodils starting to line the driveway and the edges of the fairways.

A Sunday of Celebration

There is no better place to soak up the national spirit. Whether you’re a local or a guest from across the border, the atmosphere on March 1st is always something special.

  • The Sunday Tradition

It wouldn't be a celebration without a proper sit-down meal. Our Sunday Roast is the perfect way to mark the day - bringing the whole family together in to toast the patron saint.

  • The Coastal Pilgrimage

St. David famously advised us to ‘do the little things.’ This week, that might mean a quiet walk down to the Llanrhystud shore to watch the waves, or simply enjoying the crisp air as the winter frost finally begins to yield to the spring sun.

  • A Sea of Yellow

Keep your eyes peeled as you play the golf course. The signature yellow of the daffodils against the deep green of the championship fairways is a sight that signals the true start of the Welsh spring.

St. David’s Day is a reminder to slow down and appreciate the beauty of our surroundings. Here at Penrhos, we take great pride in being custodians of this little corner of Wales. Whether you’re here for the golf, a meal, or just a quiet weekend, we invite you to wear your leek or daffodil with pride and join us in celebrating the culture, the landscape, and the hospitality that makes our home so unique.

Ultimately, this week is about a sense of belonging. There is a warmth in a Welsh welcome that defies the February chill, and as we look out over the valley, we’re reminded of how lucky we are to share this space with you. It is a time for Hiraeth - that uniquely Welsh longing for home - to be satisfied by the comfort of our accommodation and the laughter around the park. Come and be part of the tradition.
