School’s out, and that means it’s time to swap textbooks for trails! October half-term is the perfect time to explore the breath-taking landscape right on our doorstep before the winter chill truly sets in. We’ve put together a checklist of fun, family-friendly adventures that encourage outdoor exploration and local discovery.

Embrace the Outdoors
Just a stone’s throw away, Penrhos Coastal Park is an absolute treasure for an afternoon of fresh air. Instead of just a walk, turn it into a family mission with our Half-Term Scavenger Hunt:
Spot a Red Squirrel
Keep your eyes peeled! Penrhos is a sanctuary for these rare and charming creatures. Keep a tally of how many you see!
Historical Hunt
Find the remains of the Napoleonic-era Battery on the coastline. Take a photo of the sea view from one of the gun embrasures (openings).
The Autumnal Colour Collection
Collect a set of three different coloured leaves - ideally red, yellow, and brown - to bring home and press.
The Sea View Sketch Find a bench overlooking Beddmanarch Bay and take five minutes to sketch the view or simply write down three things you can hear.
Rainy Day Respite: Masterchef at Home
Inevitably, we’ll have a few wet days. Turn them into culinary gold! Baking together is a great way to practise maths, reading, and teamwork.
Bake an Apple Crumble
Use local Welsh apples if you can find them. It’s the ultimate comfort food and a perfect seasonal treat.
Create Your Own Hot Chocolate Bar
Gather different toppings (marshmallows, whipped cream, cinnamon, chilli flakes) and let everyone design their perfect cosy drink after a cold walk.
The goal for this half-term is simple: rest, recharge, and rediscover. We can't wait to hear about your adventures when you return!
